Re: New Disc
New Disc is currently in the works majorly, new breakthroughs atm with the structure of the disc is why it has not been released. Disc storage has increased majorly on cdr and new linkage techniques has been deployed.

Re: New Disc
Proxen's disc or mine? Proxen hasn't shown his face in a long time, and I doubt we will see him again.
As for my disc, fastload is working great so I'm going to test it online this afternoon once I get out of class.

Re: New Disc
How about the mod where you place online enemy counts for offline like on the PC version?

Awesome thanks. Now I just need to download the codebreaker and wait for my dreamcast to get in then I'm in.
Oh yeah quick question if I burn the codebreaker to a CD-R the system should read it. Or do I have to have the system modded?

Re: New Disc
Dreamcast: No modding necessary.
All you need to do is use BootDreams to burn the selfboot folder (which will be made by putting the 2 files into their own folder) and going from there.
You usually don't need the Codebreaker for the CD-Rs--they're selfboot already, and a downloaded and burnt codebreaker cannot boot CD-R games, anyway, unless IT is booted by a CD-R. :headache:
Codebreaker boots stuff in VGA though, which is nice.

Re: New Disc
Yeah, there's no need to use a CB with a CD-R copy of PSO. If you're connecting with a BBA, just change DNS 1 to the main Sylverant IPA, and you'll connect. If you're using dial up, you may be able to do the same thing, except using your web browser instead of USv2's "Website" option.

Re: New Disc
What about the possibility to load the rom/iso directly from SD Card(With the Sd card adapter..i have one)My Dc Laser will be very happy
Re: New Disc
You still need a CD to load the SD software. Not all games works in Sd-iso though, some a slow on the loading sides too.
It's a really cheap way to dump games in bin (2352 bytes/sector) format, way cheaper than the Broadband adapter!
http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=38263
As far as the speed goes, the serial port, which the SD adapter gets plugged into, maxes out at 1.5Mbps, way below the speed of even Class 2 SD.

Re: New Disc
That topic seems to be about GD-ROM ripping; apparently someone wants to use an SD card as a cheaper alternative to the BBA that's still faster than the coder's cable. Trying to play PSO from an SD card would be ridiculous; if the speed is truly limited to 1.5 Mibps, then everything in PSO would take approximately ten times longer to load than when you use a GD-ROM or CD-R. Character loading would probably be about the same speed, but going from Pioneer 2 to Forest 1 would probably take nearly two minutes instead of ten seconds.

From what i've heard, with the progress they're at now, they should be having better performance later on (visuals are perfect though), only thing they need to work on is loading times for the sound and normal loading.
I truly believe that it's possible to get it to run near perfect from the SD card.
Re: New Disc
Without an external clock, I believe that you're limited to roughly 500Kbps on the Dreamcast's serial port. With an external clock (which none of the available SD Adapters have), you could probably get 1.5Mbps, maybe up to 3.0Mbps, if you're lucky.
Re: New Disc
Ok..forget the sd card.. Back to topic:
Maybe it will be possible to see inb the bank how many Items are in (like GC 56/100) and maybe it could be possible to get more item to the bank..100 arent too much..what about that?
And can the special items be marked red when they lies on the ground(Like in EP2)?

Re: New Disc
You can't change the amount of space in the bank. Remember that the items you have must be saved to the save file, and PSO was designed for the save file to have 60 slots to store bank data. If you make the bank hold more items, where are you going to save that information? You'd also have to alter PSO's save routines to make the save files larger, and then your PSO saves would be incompatible with GD-ROM copies of PSO forever after you did that. Red boxes are also impossible, since Ver.2 has no flag to determine what kind of boxes should be red, and there's no way to make it load an extra skin for such items, anyway. We need the game's source code to make such drastic changes.Seby wrote:Maybe it will be possible to see inb the bank how many Items are in (like GC 56/100) and maybe it could be possible to get more item to the bank..100 arent too much..what about that?

Sorry for constant questioning but I just want to be 100% sure. Can i burn this to a CD-R with ImgBurn? Or do I have to use a specific burner for this?
Thanks

Re: New Disc
You cannot use ImgBurn, as it apparently does not support multi-session discs, at least according to Wikipedia. All Dreamcast images are multi-session, so you must use a program like the DiscJuggler trial or BootDreams to write the CDI.TheDeFIler wrote:Sorry for constant questioning but I just want to be 100% sure.
