Re: Frantic Fauna
Although this quest won't be back for quite a while yet, I did finally figure out a way to avoid that blighted camera bug, so I updated the quest to fix it.

Re: Frantic Fauna
Sorry for the necro-bump, I recently joined the community because I just purchased a CIB Broadband Adapter. I figured Sylverant was a pretty active community in terms of seeing a few similar faces everyday.
I just tried this quest and I'm beginning to think there's some outside of the box thinking required for completion of this quest. I'm playing on VHard with my lvl 84 RAmar, and I'm thinking I'm not doing something right. I cleared Forest 1 & 2, went to the computer, and am at a standstill because I think the one room I need to access I cannot. I'm getting burned by the radioactivity!
EDIT: I beat the quest on VHard, but I think there's some trickery afoot. I want to try it again and see if there's something I'm missing just before I disarm the probe.

Re: Frantic Fauna
There's no need to apologise, since I'm always glad when people enjoy the new quests. There are definitely a few secrets in this one, but you still have a month to figure them out, so I'm in no rush to provide spoilers.

That's totally okay Aleron Ives! I do appreciate an active admin. The difficulty doesn't necessarily matter in order to find the secrets, right? If not, I'll keep plodding away.

Re: Frantic Fauna
Many quests have bonus features that depend on the difficulty setting, but what you can access in each difficulty depends upon the specific quest. It's usually safe to assume that if there are any differences, better goodies come with higher difficulties.

Ah, okay that makes sense. I've been able to complete the main quest of this particular seasonal holiday. I've encountered a trapped fellow afterwards who is looking for something in particular, but I'm not sure I'm able to locate what they want. This is all on VHard, so I just want to be sure I'm not wasting my time wandering around the map!

Re: Frantic Fauna
That would just be mean if you got sent on side quests that you couldn't actually complete until you chose a higher difficulty setting. Most quests won't let you access a hidden feature at all unless you're on a difficulty that supports it, and this quest is no exception.

Not going to lie, I'm still on the struggle bus here. I am not sure what I am doing wrong, but perhaps these quests are so unique and use the game engine in ways I never thought possible, but I can't help feed our little friend.

Re: Frantic Fauna
If you try the quest with a veteran or two, they might be able to show you where to look.

Make sure you look in every possible location. The forest does not have that many rooms. You will definitely know when you find it!

Re: Frantic Fauna
Curious, do you need to be a certain size when hunting for the food source? As in the same size when you're speaking to the Rappy in order to see the item? Or on a specific level of the Forest?
I just had a thought, do I need the EP to be able to do the side-quests? I'm running off of my original v.2 disc with the Sylverant Boot Disc.

Re: Frantic Fauna
Yes, you have to be small, and the gd rom should be fine. It does not matter which version you use, as long as it is ver. 2.

Re: Frantic Fauna
I beat it today. I could have sworn I looked where I did. Now I'm guessing this weapons badge is on Ultimate. That'll have to wait until next year I'm guessing, as I'm only lvl 62.

Re: Frantic Fauna
If you're on Ver.1, you can't play the quest at all, so that part isn't a problem.mahkbooks wrote:It does not matter which version you use, as long as it is ver. 2.
@ Blu
Congratulations.

Re: Frantic Fauna
Finally got to play this quest, better late than never I know.
I'm glad to see a new forest quest. Forest requires a lot of creativity and features to make an interesting quest due to its small size and map setup. I appreciate all the hard work put into this quest.
I only did a Vhard run just to see what it was like but hope to do a proper ULT mode quest.
Quick questions
Does that Mag NPC offer different mags / photon blasts based on difficulty, or are they just randomly generated based on the ones that are available regardless of difficulty?
The WEAPONS side quest is still the main quest, just with uber difficulty enemies right?
I really like the addition of quests being able to support increased stat enemies. Have you updated other quests to add this feature?

Re: Frantic Fauna
You get to pick the Mag in Ultimate, but the PBs are still randomly generated. The side quest requires you to play without using any S-Rank weapons and enables some bonus content if you do...
The three "frantic" quests are Frantic Fauna, Halloween Horror, and Acrid Aquifer. Christmas Catastrophe and Resurgent Darkness also have their own difficulties, and you can play Insane mode in several other quests, too.
GC also has "Super Hard" mode available in several quests, which is basically a substitute for Ludicrous mode on GC.
