Christmas Catastrophe Empty Christmas Catastrophe

This quest is so old (since it was the first fully custom quest and the second non-Sega quest ever), that there isn't actually a topic for it on this forum, so I guess I'll make one for it this year. Cool

As you know if you've played it before, this quest gives us a chance to do some massive killing once a year, and I found out last December that since it was designed to be a challenge in Ultimate mode, it was a little too overwhelming in Ludicrous mode. Twisted Evil Since I've made tweaks to the quest almost every year since its original release in 2005, this year I've added a special difficulty setting to fix that problem, while still making it a little more challenging. Ultimate mode now has a special difficulty that's in between Ultimate and Ludicrous, so everyone gets a chance to fight monsters that are a little stronger than normal without having to endure the ordeal that was trying to clear the quest in Ludicrous mode. If you're a Force, the resistances have also been adjusted, so feel free to do some nuking. I've also upgraded the Healing Rings, so you don't have to stand around for eons waiting to restore your TP. Wink

Hopefully now we can finally play this quest.

I remember last year me, Colin, and Wing were having issues with this quest. xD

Yeah, everyone was trying to play this quest last year when we were trying to figure out the bug that was making everybody desynchronize and get disconnected. Thankfully, that was fixed a long time ago now, so you won't have that problem anymore when you try to play this (or any other) quest. Wink

First run of this year: 2 deaths on the way to the last room on a solo run, then had to leave, got massacred in the last area anyway xD

Using my FOney it took about an hour and a half x_x I need to bring some backup next time. Hopefully I can get a chance to play a few more times before the quest gets taken down but I'm stuck at the moment studying for finals and writing a research paper...so......yeah... Sad

Pandora and Usagi died 6 times in total. The monsters are definitely tougher this year. So we weren't good enough to get the Christmas cards.

FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU....

I can't figure out how to get that computer to accept me. I've gone through a bunch of times in VH and tried all sorts of combinations including not dying and not using any rings and talking to everyone before and after talking to Melvin and getting the 4th piece of list or not getting the 4th piece of list before accessing the computer to going through the maps a second time after defeating all monsters and checking all walls for false doors...

I don't get it. Is there something I'm still missing? Do I need a team mate?

You should pay more attention to the NPC who says the computer only responds to those who have defeated the most powerful enemies. Laughing

Hi Ives, it's really a great fun to spend a lot of time within this unique quest. Finally reached to the end in the most powerful mode this year, but soon realized the condition required has not been fulfilled, and it's just impossible with my character who has just finished ULT. Although the difficulty summoned good old PSO for Dreamcast memories. Now only wonder how precious the reward is, and who could really get it after all Smile

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Very Happy We have one more day of the Christmas event left this year, so you still have enough time to try again. I just finished playing it myself. Wink
