Re: Frantic Fauna
Well, since there's nothing wrong with the code in the quest itself (to my knowledge), I can only conclude that PSO has some unknown bugs that are causing problems. I am 99% sure that the problem with the Mags is related to the problem with the camera, which only seemed to happen if you ran through the entire quest without returning to Pioneer 2. Although I didn't want to have to change the flow of the quest, the discovery of the Mag problem has forced me to make changes.
You will now return to Pioneer 2 after you clear Forest 1, and there's also an extra step in the process of getting the Mags, which shouldn't be difficult to discover. There's an extra NPC on Pioneer 2, after all. On the plus side, I upgraded the Healing Ring and made it easier to access.
I'm hoping that playing it safe and having you return to Pioneer 2 will prevent whatever the bug is in PSO that's been causing these problems. Sadly, I guess since some of the Mags that were being awarded before are permanently bugged, it's best to get rid of them. BlueCrab or I could restore the Mags if anyone wants, but since almost everyone knows what to do now, you can always get more.
Also, BlueCrab and I figured out that it wasn't just the quest bug causing the legit checker to dislike the Mags -- apparently, he also didn't know how to configure the checker to deal with Mags that have no center Photon Blast, so it may still say that post-fix Mags are illegit at the moment, but he's going to fix the checker. I'll let you know when that's happened.
Sorry for all the troubles.

Actually, on second look (i.e, actually looking at the code for that and not the OTHER thing that we were discussing), it looks like it SHOULD handle mags without a center photon blast just fine...Aleron Ives wrote:Also, BlueCrab and I figured out that it wasn't just the quest bug causing the legit checker to dislike the Mags -- apparently, he also didn't know how to configure the checker to deal with Mags that have no center Photon Blast, so it may still say that post-fix Mags are illegit at the moment, but he's going to fix the checker. EDIT: On third look, maybe it is wrong... Hrm... time to test this.
EDIT2: Should be fixed now... I think (or at least the legit checker didn't yell at me when I tested it on the test ship with Altimira's legit list). The update has been pushed to both Iselia and Altimira already. Always good when I can notice where the problem is, test and fix it within 15 minutes.

Every thing said with that:

Re: Frantic Fauna
Only if its still bugged. If the mag is not tripping the legit check, then all is well.Moopthehedgehog wrote:So I have to get rid of my mag now? Ok..
Re: Frantic Fauna
I can check your Mags if you want. I checked Nytesong's and his weren't bugged. The Mags you get from now on won't be bugged either, although the camera still doesn't work right.
*edit*
So... I blame MuCast for pointing out that it's actually a tragedy to be unable to enter Forest 1 while shrinked. I was prepared to leave it that way, but now he's got me thinking that I should change it back. Of course, that means forfeiting easy access to Pioneer 2, but if you're like me and enjoy shrinkage, you'll think it's worth it. Will y'all if I change it back?
*edit*
So... I couldn't resist the temptation of being able to be dinky in Forest 1, so I went back to the old system. You do still have to talk to the lady on Pioneer 2 for Mags, since that's crucial to creating them properly. Since you've all been such good sports about this and nobody's found the last secret yet, I think it's time for a hint!
When you search for the badge is just as important as where you search for the badge. If you've looked everywhere and still haven't found it, you're not searching under the right conditions.
There, wasn't that helpful? Let's see if anyone can find it now...

Yep! I'll be there in... 10 minutes!
Edit: I think I know how to get the badge. And I think it requires a deathless insane-mode run....

Re: Frantic Fauna
Since I'm feeling extra nice, I will tell you that the quest does not count the number of times you've died, since it's not a VR simulator. I'm mean and sneaky, but I'm not that mean and sneaky.

AWWWWWWWWWW THAT MEANS nyte and I could've been able to find it.........
Unless, of course, it's one of those things where you need to beat all the offline quests on ult, first (but I highly doubt this because of the above response...).
This is maddening

You're telling me.
Anyhoo, I have yet to confirm that the completion of the offline quests have anything to do with finding the hidden items, but I do have them all done on my HUmar, so maybe I'll do a run later and check to see for sure. I have a feeling that one quest in particular has to be completed if the hint I received earlier is correct.

Re: Frantic Fauna
Could be like some of the side quest chains (the one with Sue, i remember for 2 possible side quests, 1 telling her your name, one telling not) Hopefully this will not mean to restart all these quests again and again for doing these side quests... Or just having a nice side quest like in soul of steel but not getting a special reward as it was not officially finished.
Re: Frantic Fauna
maaan i want to try again, but there's no way i can solo that uber-mode FF ((

On the bright side, your Techniques will do lots of damage. I hope I get to play again before Easter is over...

Re: Frantic Fauna
Side note:
If you equip the game magazine, then quit the game, it will save then take you to the title screen. When this happens and you type in 'uraending', you will get the credits as if you finished a level offline. You don't get to see your character in the pictures, but I think the pictures are slightly different too.
I thought this was quite interesting. At least I finally discovered the secret technique.

Re: Frantic Fauna
For the record, the GAME MAGAZINE weapon merely tells you the secret. You don't have to have one to view the bonus credits. The pictures used during the second half of that credits sequence aren't shown during the other endings, either.

Since Easter's almost over, I guess I'll also say:
The WEAPONS upgrade to the Key Card isn't just for show.
If you combine that with the previous hint, maybe it'll clue you in as to what you need to do differently.

Re: Frantic Fauna
I'm gonna guess talking to the principal as soon as you get the card? That's something that I don't think has been done yet.
I think we've done everything after going through hell mode, so what about before it....
Or it could be something about the quest board, but I'm not in a position to test any of this until Friday-Saturday-Sunday-ish (I hope it isn't gone by then...).

Re: Frantic Fauna
Key card disappears when probe is disarmed, so you gotta find the badge before disarming the probe. Question is when?
