Would it be possible for you or bluecrab to make a loader so that I could play US V2 on the DC with the enhancement pack? That would be cool...

Just have a look on the connect tab on the sylverant hopmepage:

A new option available for all Dreamcast versions of PSO is a program that I’ve written called Sylverant PSO Patcher. The Sylverant PSO Patcher program is available on the Downloads page linked to in the menu above. This program is able to patch all of the Dreamcast versions of PSO that are supported to connect to the server without using any Codebreaker codes or DNS tricks. In addition, for the versions of the game that have a Hunter’s License check, it will disable that as well. As a final bonus, the Sylverant PSO Patcher also includes Aleron Ives’ map fix patch for all versions of PSOv2 (a first for the Dreamcast!). This unlocks the final maps on Cave 1, Cave 3, Mine 1, and Mine 2 on Ultimate mode, which were unavailable due to a bug in Sega’s code. As such, I recommend using the Sylverant PSO Patcher if you’re using PSOv2 on Sylverant, regardless of whether you have to or not.

Here’s a quick guide to which versions are supported:

Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast “Version 1″ – US)
Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast “Version 1″ – European)
Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast “Version 1″ – Japanese)
Phantasy Star Online ver.2 (Dreamcast – US)
Phantasy Star Online ver.2 (Dreamcast – European)
Phantasy Star Online ver.2 (Dreamcast – Japanese)
Phantasy Star Online (for Windows)
Phantasy Star Online Episodes I and II (Gamecube)
Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution (Gamecube)

Isos containing the enhancement pack are available via torrent. You can find the links on Ive's page psopalace.sylverant.net

Sadly, no. The EP has multiple modified files that are too large to store in the limited memory available to the loader disc, so the only way to use the EP on the DC is with a new disc that has pre-modified files. It would theoretically be possible to put the necessary support files on a VMU, but getting the loader to pull files from the VMU instead of the GD-ROM would probably also be so difficult that it would cause the loader to become too large to fit in its current memory space. Loading files from the VMU would also take way longer than loading them from the disc, which might mess up the game.

Does the loader work with your ep dreamcast disc? I thought that it would only work on original GD roms.

The loader, by design, only works with original GD-ROM discs. No, I do not intend to change that, either (for a couple of different reasons).

I was saying that if you wanted to have the EP with a GD-ROM, the loader can't do it in its current form. Why would you want to use it with a CD-R, anyway? If you're going to make a new disc, you can pre-modify the files, so there's no need for a loader. Razz

Does your ep disc have the ability to play FMA on Ultimate? I just want to do things on the DC that I can do on PC.

No, the fix for the maps is quite recent, and the EP disc predates it by several years. PC is always going to be ahead of DC in terms of patches, since it's much easier to alter files on a HDD than an optical disc.

It is a Hunter's Shell, not a HUmar's Shell, after all. Cool

Cool man! Can we expect more modifications like these in any other equipment?

Edit: Maybe you should fix the items description from "Special shield for HUmars. It boosts evasive ability significantly." to "Special shield for hunters. It boosts evasive ability significantly." Razz

Maybe you should read the first post. Razz There was no tool to change the Dreamcast's text file when I made the EP, so the text fixes are only available for PC. Lots of things in the Dreamcast's text file are out of date besides that shield.

Hello all!

It's been a while but I'm back and I saw that the Enhancement Pack is up and running. Great job Ives! I'm assuming it's the Ive's Pack Torrent on the main page? It's probably a stupid question and I know it's been stated but just making sure. What speed do I need to burn the ISO on from DiscJuggler? Also I was wondering if we can get anyone to seed the torrent? Much appreciated and Ives you rock!

The pack has three different discs in it: USv1, USv2, and USv2 EP. Each is in its own zip file, so you only have to download the ones you want. The DiscJuggler trial will automatically select the slowest speed your burner supports. Old burners needed speeds as slow as 4x, but newer burners often don't go that slowly. The disc will probably work anyway, since CD burning technology has been around for many years now. Are you in the swarm right now? The tracker isn't reporting any peers at present.

Question:

Is it possible to get the Enhancement Pack just without the Ludicrous Mode?

(Me and my wolfpacks are still not strong enough and want to get all the others benifits of your work, but at this point we can´t ride it in Ultimate / Ludicrous.)

Thanks for an positive info, it will be noticed by your paypal account Wink

The extra difficulty balances out the increased drop rates and the stronger weapons. If you were fighting the regular enemies, it would make finding items far too easy, as you could mow the enemies down in no time at all. Wink

How does this even work? Are values just edited via the image on the disc? Will all of these changes be reflected even if you're not on Altimira? I'm very curious, because this is very interesting to me.

You download the disc and burn the selfboot CDI file to a CD-R, which your DC then plays instead of a GD-ROM. The new disc contains the modified files that make the EP possible, so the changes are present both offline and online and regardless of which ship or server you use. It's still worth keeping a GD-ROM copy around, though, since CD-R copies of PSOv2 can't play the offline quests or Challenge mode without freezing.

You did Challenge on your CD-R? You're one lucky guy. Razz It does work sometimes, but it depends upon the area, the disc, and the individual Dreamcast. Mine used to work well enough in Forest and Cave, but Mine 1 would always freeze, so I couldn't go beyond Stage 4 without using a GD-ROM.
