Halloween Patch Empty Halloween Patch

Post  Aleron Ives Sat Sep 24, 2011 11:34 pm

The Halloween Patch has just been released, which allows the Halloween event to have its own music, instead of sharing music with the Valentine's Day event. The pack contains both the new Halloween music used in GC/Xbox/BB, as well as a patcher to update pso.exe to be able to play the new music on Pioneer 2 when the Halloween event is active. As usual, you can grab it in the PC Downloads section of the main site. Make sure you read the README file, so you know how to apply the patch correctly.

Yes, this is a rather random patch to release, but it always annoyed me how Valentine's Day and Halloween had the same music, and now I've gotten the opportunity to fix it (just in time for October, no less). Cool

I do eventually want to have a Halloween event quest, but since I didn't have time to make one this year, I'll put Frantic Fauna up again, instead. Wink

I thought of potentially altering the sound test, but that would have been a lot of extra work, assuming it would even be possible at all. It would also most likely have required me to use a good portion of the extra space we have to work with for future expansions. I decided it wasn't worth it, since I wanted to get this out well before October (or it would have been essentially useless for another 11 months). There are other tracks in the sound test that you can't play for whatever reason (lazy Sega?), and if I was going to mess with it, I'd want to expand the sound test to include everything. I also figured it wasn't worth it, since most people either have PSO's music exported to a play list, or they have the OSTs. Razz

Now that I think about it, though, you said:

I seem to vaguely recall that "Can Still See The Light" was hidden on the Dreamcast sound test until after you beat the game, but I don't remember if other tracks were hidden or not. If the generation of the sound test entries is dynamic based on your in-game progress, then I definitely don't want to try to mess with it. Most likely something would break. Evil or Very Mad

Is the event operational yet, or do we have to wait until October? Question

*Scape Doll*

This is a nice little patch. I may log on today and play for a bit. Hopefully someone is on... Other wise, I'll probably log off after 5 minutes like I usually do when I try to come back. xD
