Minor Bug in Ultimate Ruins
Hey,
first it's good to be back, enjoying PSO. Seems like I missed a lot of effort the team put into PSO recently. GOOD JOB!! Especially the job in getting ALL DC versions back online, hey when the loader is fully working this news have to be spread wiiiiiide....
Now to the "bug" i encountered: I just started a game to enjoy a bit of pso and made an ultimate team. Everything was fine in forrest. I later entered ruins and wondered why there was no music. My weapon was not shown too but worked like equipped. Some weapons "appeared" after casting resta or barta (bigger ones did not). After a while music tried to start but was "hanging" then sopped again. It does this frequently every few minutes. Switching to ruins 2 did not change anything.
This is nothing big, as it does not affect gameplay, just thought you might like to know as you recently worked on ultimate and music related things.
Keep on the good work,
Little Vamp

Re: Minor Bug in Ultimate Ruins
The problem is that your Dreamcast is dying. It has nothing to do with the server, haha. If the system can't play the music, it means that the laser isn't able to read the disc or the motor can't spin it anymore. It could also be due to a dirty disc, but that's probably not the case. The last time I had the music disappear, it was because my GD-ROM drive had broken completely and couldn't spin the disc at all, so I had to get my system refurbished.
Re: Minor Bug in Ultimate Ruins
I'm sorry
just saw, that i used the wrong "broken" GDR of PSO.
(had one which got a scratch when my old dc got dropped as someone jumped into the cables)
My DC is in well maintained condition and especially the drive unit is cleaned and oiled with a lot of love making the DC almost unhearable. It would make me wonder if my beloved DC will die somewhen.
Thanks for the fast reply

Re: Minor Bug in Ultimate Ruins
Mine makes enough noise to wake the dead and doesn't always read discs anymore. Maybe I should look for a cleaning/oiling tutorial.
Re: Minor Bug in Ultimate Ruins
Cleaning + oiling is easy.
i took everything apart and even polished the inside of the case with alcohol
clean the spindle of the laser sledge well with alcohol and qtips
clean the lens too (rotate q tip) do never use cleaning cds as they hit the lens with such a force that they could brake / get loose.
Oil the spindle well with a special oil. Best is a PTFE containing oil (as the ptfe rubs in the metal surface). Make sure its free of acid and haze.its easy
