BBA woes. Empty BBA woes.

Well I picked up my replacement Dreamcast Friday and was all ready to yank the the BBA off the old Dreamcast. So I go to take off the BBA and I plug it into the new Dreamcast. Turns out the BBA died with the old DC. Something inside the BBA broke as stuff is rattling around inside of it. *sigh*

I wasn't happy when the DC got thrown and broke but that BBA isn't replaceable. Dreamcast: 25$ BBA$ 150$...if I can find it. I was looking forward to DC PSO too. =/. I didn't think about it at the time my DC broke as I didn't think I could play PSO online on the DC still.

So to sum it up does anyone know where I can order a BBA. I can pay the 150 or so to get it. I read online region doesn't matter. So any leads?

If you look at the other accessories you can get your very own Dreamcast Karaoke set! XD.

Sorry about your BBA though, I'd be pissed...Then again I don't own one yet so I just play PC.

Well thats what I expected, this friday BBA ahoy. I read somewhere you could use a dial up moden and dial into your PC...but that sounds like a pain in the rear.

Still at least I can fix it. And I have the money to do so. Or I could just keep playing PSO PC...nah I'll fix it lol. I miss the "dreamcast" feel as it were.

Have you tried opening up the BBA to see what's broken off inside of it? It might be possible to fix it if its not TOO serious. You certainly shouldn't just throw it away, I'd think. Heck, I'd take it off your hands if you're just going to throw it away, even if its actually broken so badly it can't be fixed.

If you don't mind me asking, what exactly happened to break the BBA and the Dreamcast?

Yeah, if just some wires or connectors or something disconnected, you may be able to solder or glue the pieces back together again. As long as nothing critical like the main circuit board cracked in two or blew up or something, there might still be hope for it... If nothing else, it might be possible to salvage parts from it to repair another broken BBA in the future.

I heard about using the DC to PC thing the other day....However, I heard that you need linux...At least the one the player was telling me about. However, I don't really feel like learning linux >.> I'll just stick to PC

Domestic dispute. I didn't throw it. And I don't want to say anything more on a forum lol. Needless to say the DC is toast. But I saved the parts as I may need to fix a DC someday and I may be able to rig the broadband. We'll see later when Im not so upset. I've had that dreamcast since I was 15. Its the only console I was able to hold on to for that long. I know it sounds silly but it was more than a console to me. Its one of the few things I had been able to hold on to for ten years with all the moving I have done.

I still have my games and stuff so no big deal there. But still it had sentimental value. Such is life. I might play some Sonic Adventure later or Level a character on DC offline.

Edit: I know enough about Linux to get by, but I don't feel like dealing with a soft-modem in Linux. And I know thats what the PC I would use has. My main Vaio laptop doesn't even have a modem lol...and honestly I don't think windows 7 supports dial up. I'll have to look into it because my other PCs are old enough that they may just work with certain distros of Linux. Honestly I haven't used dial up in so long soft modems might not even be an issue anymore.
