Triad -Maximum Attack-
Defeat all
enemies in
the simulator!
Client: Principal
Quest:
Defeat enemies in
the simulator within
the time limit.
Reward: ??? Meseta
Required VMU Blocks for Dreamcast (TMA3): 40
Yep, another batch of quests is here. These are based off of the Maximum Attack 4th Stage quests, but I had to rewrite the scripts to make them work. As such, I made some changes. They have been turned into proper simulator quests, and as such you cannot set Telepipes to return to Pioneer 2. Unlike FAMITSU-MAXIMUM ATTACK- though, you will not fail if you die. Instead, you lose 60 seconds on the timer for every death. The first two quests are available online, while the third has been adapted for offline play. Enjoy.

looks like fun, though that lily room looks scary xD
I'll have to give it a shot after I play Christmas catastrophe.

If there wasn't, I would have said so. I'll warn you though, the rooms with a billion Ob Lilies can get a little slow if they all cast Megid at the same time.Moopthehedgehog wrote:Now, the famous question...

Re: Triad -Maximum Attack-
Well the silly spawns aren't my fault, since I didn't make the maps. You know there are too many Ob Lilies when not one but two Mil Lilies show up even on Ver.2 just during the testing process.

Re: Triad -Maximum Attack-
I decided that the time constraints were still a little too strict, so I raised the amount of time you have in Ultimate. You'll now have 15 minutes more than before if you have 2, 3, or 4 players. I also took the time to upgrade the top prize tier a bit.
Although the extra time doesn't apply to the third one, since it's downloadable and you're always alone, I did upgrade the top prize tier as well as fix a bug that could potentially have caused you to lose two minutes per death instead of one minute during the boss fight. I've already updated the Download Quest ship, so you can get the update for both DC and PC at your convenience. If you're using the Dreamcast version, you can just delete the two old files from your VMU before going online to download the update. If you're on PC, you'll need to delete the old files from the Backup folder manually.

Thanks Ives, Serena and Usagiiiii were having a very tough time doing this even on very hard. I'll let you know how it goes.

Re: Triad -Maximum Attack-
The extra time only applies to Ultimate mode, since you can easily blast through Very Hard if you level and get the right equipment. Taking out loads of monsters quickly is best achieved by buying a good Charge weapon from the shop with appropriate percentages. Get a Charge Diska or Charge Gungnir (or find a VJAYA in Ultimate), and then obliterate the enemies. Single-target weapons like Mechguns won't be fast enough, as you basically need to kill every wave of enemies in one combo. Of course, having a SPREAD NEEDLE or S-Rank Needle is the best way to do it, or you can also use a Charge Launcher from the shop. Ultimate requires extra time, since none of these options will work there, except for the S-Rank Needle.
As for Serena, a Force can kill pretty fast in Very Hard, but she needs to learn which monsters are weak to which Techniques so she can blast them quickly. If the two of you split up, you can clear the quest even faster.

Re: Triad -Maximum Attack-
Well, I have good news and bad news. The good news is I found the bug that was causing one of the prizes to be corrupt and make the legit checker complain. The bad news is that means you have to go through the process of deleting the old files and downloading the third one again if you want the fix for that one. It's already on the download ship, and of course the first and second are already updated on Altimira. Sowwie. At least I'm fixing stuff, right?

Re: Triad -Maximum Attack-
I read in a topic about the original BB version that one of the Poison/Ob Lilies in Cave 2 will never drop anything, because it's positioned in an invalid location. I checked and sure enough, the one in the waterfront room closest to the door is actually on top of the water, not on top of the land, so it wouldn't be able to drop anything in both 2 and 3. No, this time it's not my fault, because Sega designed the spawns. I guess I should fix that, but while I'm at it, I thought I would maybe add a function to let you check your current points without having to beat the quest (as part of what Irene says if you talk to her at the beginning, she would tell you how many points you've gotten so far). Would that be useful, or should I not bother?

Re: Triad -Maximum Attack-
that would be cool. do the points we get accumulate even if we can't beat falz in 30 minutes? i only beat him once successfully on Vh, but attempted a few times.

Re: Triad -Maximum Attack-
If you don't beat the quest in time, you get nothing. I should probably check on the time requirements on VH... heh.

Re: Triad -Maximum Attack-
If you could fix that, then it would be a lot less painful to anyone's mind. I've seen people afraid of encountering a Mil Lily at that spot so many times, Murphy's law is really a scary thing

Re: Triad -Maximum Attack-
I've updated all three of these to let you view your points without having to beat the quest first. Irene will tell you have many you have if you listen to her explanation at the beginning of the quest. I also found there was not one, but two Poison Lilies improperly placed, so I moved them both onto land. Of course, we still won't get anything good from them, but oh well. If you want the update for the downloadable one, you can delete the old files and re-download it.

Re: Triad -Maximum Attack-
After having the idea to reward you on FMA for getting the maximum kills, I decided that I wanted to do the same thing on TMA, too. You'll now get extra points if you kill every enemy on all three quests, so if you want the updated TMA3, you can delete the old files and download it... again. Like the regular points, the bonus points are scaled by difficulty setting, and the number of points you get equates to the number you would receive if you had killed an extra 100 enemies.

Re: Triad -Maximum Attack-
Yet another update is now complete. This time, I wanted to fix the potential crashing problems in Cave 2, and I decided to fix many other minor things as well, including some bugs that could cause you to get stuck and force you to quit the game if you ran out of time under certain circumstances. Altimira is updated with TMA1/2, and you can download the updated TMA3 as well. Remember to delete the old files first, as usual.

When you hit 50000 pts, do your points reset to 0? I think that happened to Pandora.

Re: Triad -Maximum Attack-
Yes. You're allowed to start collecting points again from the beginning once you reach the cap (and Tyrell says as much when he announces that you've acquired the maximum points possible). The only alternative would be to freeze your points and forbid you from collecting more, and while that would be an option for per-character points on DC, it's not a good solution for PC, since points are always shared between all of your characters.

Re: Triad -Maximum Attack-
Gave this a run tonight by myself after playing challenge mode. Only ran the first one though on VH to see how it is. I burned through enemies, but only made it to the first room of ruins. I'm guessing that's not really a SOLO ques (hence the offline quest.) Fun mission, I dont see anyone surviving those lilly rooms in ULT, god damn.
