Direct X Fixes Empty Direct X Fixes

Post  Aleron Ives Mon Dec 08, 2008 4:50 pm

It seemed like this would never happen, but we finally have our first Direct X fix.

Direct X Fixes Ringfix

Surprised Shin is going to try to improve it slightly more. It should be possible to make ice translucent again, make the door switches in Forest transparent when activated, and probably fix the whole disappearing body parts stuff when you look at yourself through objects. Cool

It doesn't seem practical to release every single patch individually since there's a lot of things to fix. It's better to fix everything and release a giant pack of fixes IMO. xD

Hope ives has that list ready tonight Very Happy, I should be able to fix some of the vanishing hair parts, cant all be fixed without altering stuff i dont know about, should be able to do the ice as ives said. Fixing pioneer 2 tonight as much as i can, shouldnt be too hard. After that i'll see what I can do about the ult caves 1 floor and the sil dragon.

Edit: if enough people want it i can probably convert some of my mods to V2 without any problems aswell Smile

That would be pretty cool ShinAsura. I've always been interested in some of your modifications like the skins. The ICE one as well as a few others I came across ages ago are pretty cool.

You don't need to do so, but it'd be a nice addition to convert it to v2 and put up some downloads for it :D

lol, sorry i was asleep. Did try fixing the ice but its weird, im thinking there might be two sets of textures for it, one in the pvm and another pvm inside the bml file. I'll play about with it later on today snice im free after 1pm. If it doesnt work im gonna try importing the BB model since it works differently. For those who didnt notice, youll see in the pic thats a BB hairstyle i imported into V2, May be possible to just import the same model into V2 Smile

Haha i knew someone would bring that up. I may remake it, I havent really decided yet, right now iw as thinking just about makign the winter forest. even if there are only a handfull of players, that same forest for like... 7 years must be getting old. Fixing other stuff comes first though.

Also @ ives, im gonna need a torrent to the dreamcast version, preferably V1 if possible, V2 would do aswell though.Just so i can compare lots of thingz

MOAR EDITZ: Network issues @ home atm so i wont be online, phear not though, i'll get as much of this sorted as I can over the next few days

Yay, I dind't notice the hair style. Neat job there!
The only step back, as any texture mod, is that nobody else who doesn't have the same mod as us, can see it.

Unfortunately PSO PC doesn't support DXT3, so fixing stuff won't work after all. There's no way to do translucency so the majority of things like ice can't be fixed. -_-

Letting everyone know, thats the ice effects been fixed as have various signs and such throughout pioneer 2. unfortunately some of the hair vanishing problems cant be fixed as maps dont support dxt3 textures, only some seem to support it(ice being one of them). I'm sure ives will upload a piccy of it soon Smile

Well, unlike a certain someone who shall remain nameless, I just thought I'd provide an update that I think the patches are complete. The ice fix has been finalized, and I managed to find a way to fix the Sil Dragon arena's floor. xD As such, I think I'll set loose the fixes this weekend. I thought about making a self extracting archive, but I think what I'll do is just do a normal archive and also include a batch file for people who want automated installation. Those who want to copy the files manually instead will then be able to do so.

Hi all, and thanks for keeping my old fav PSO alive and well on the PC. I used toplay back in teh DC days of 99 and then Gamecube. Many months spent without a keyboard until they got released in the UK, nice memories.

These enhancements for the graphics are just great. Just one thing Id like to ask, I remember on the consoles theres certain rooms in the mines that go ompletely dark and need a switch to get light, this doesnt seem to be happening on the PC, any reason why? Thanks for any help in advance.

Oh Ive had it for about 3 or 4 years on a CD, cant remember exactly where I grabbed it, a torrent I think. I have to unpack it and follow a load of intructions to get it working, works ok on and offline though just thought it weird about the dark rooms not being dark.

If it's an ISO installation it's probably because your graphics card sucks or something, but if you downloaded a mophead installation then it was probably hacked to disable dark rooms.

The latter probably, as my 9800GT 1GB is far from sucking......maybe in a few months lol.

Not really a problem with the dark rooms (or lack of) just thought therte may have been a fix.

Should I download a more recent ISO of PSO PC to fix it?

Reinstalling with a non-hacked installation should fix it.
