this. remember moop, OSX is bsd(or debian?) with 3-7 layers of appleshit on it.
Re: Summertime countdown
If you know how, you can even open an Xterm on OSX. Apparently after OS9, Apple realized that they couldn't actually make a decent OS on their own, so they just leeched one that already worked and instead made a glorified window manager for it. Now they sell said glorified window manager as an OS.

I run Ubuntu 9.10, GG.
Re: Summertime countdown
See, here, before you again remind me that you dislike apple or whatever, I must add this:
I'm getting a MAC to do something crazy:
Running MAC and Windows together via Bootcamp.
Gosh darn and candy, I hope it isn't as freaking hard as what I did this morning: Getting MS-DOS 6.22 and XP Pro Sp3 to dual-boot on a Toshiba Satellite with 1GB ram--It is the single hardest thing I have ever done on a computer, and I will probably do it again on a another computer since I realized that it had a bad cd-drive that hated even the most minor scratches

See, here, before i remind you that IDGAF, i must add this:
Have fun paying for an overpriced laptop with wackass specifications, and with that go do bootcamp. whats the problem with getting a regular laptop, installin unix/ubuntu and wine it.
And so the laptop you have, has a bad cd-drive so you end up switching to mac just to do something that you already accomplished? WIN.

I have 3 laptops....
1. Main (the one pso is on and I use for all things)--xp
2. Dual-boot (just because it's a good laptop that I got for $20 off a guy)--this one has somewhat bad drive--xp/dos
4. 20yr old one that I have in the I have done it! it lives! topic.--wind31/dos
To top it all off, there are 4 other computers here: 3 are xp, 1 vista (ugh), and 1 seven.
So please don't talk to me about switching to mac or anything.
1. I will never try linux
2. I want to try an new OS that I have never crashed despite my best efforts.
3. I'm obviously not a mac enthusiast.
4. This topic is about summer coming up. I had no intention of starting an argument!!!

Never asked for what laptops you have.
1. osx is linux based
2. probably going against number one, but still if you want to try a new OS TRY out linux, It's the same thing. And since you're going to switch to mac (as your first post says) atleast quit with the hypocrisy

Don't knock it till you try it.
or better yet, stop fking things up on windows that make it go coocoo for cocopuffs, i build my rig with win2k/xp/vista and now on 7 and i haven't done anything stupid to make things crash. or better yet why not just google "official windows 7 repository" and go to mdl forums, download it and try it.
And its true on what Ives said,

Long ago apple had to get help from windows. now look
Re: Summertime countdown
Why do you assume I'm computer illiterate?
ALL my computers run home networking, printer sharing through one computer, boot up in <10 seconds (except vista and an off-limits xp computer), and have Gebibytes of stuff on them, including norton 2007-2010 on ALL of them. I set up 5 of them. the other two are not my doing and I'm not allowed to do anything more to them unless asked because they are personal property of other in my immediate family.
||||****So stfhu up about:
Me too.****||||
I have tried both mac and windows. I have, again, 7 windows comps.
Mac is something new to me.
I'm not going to try linux because my family was extremely reluctant to even move away from windows, so it's not that I don't want to, it's that I can't.
@hayame
Why are you being such a jerk and continuing this argument?
Case and point is:
-I'm getting a mac. I don't care what you think. I am being a brick wall about this, I like it better than windows. It is MY opinion, NOT yours.
-I have done craploads to windows and I have made sure it still keeps up and running perfectly smooth (x5)
-I will never get the chance to try out linux.
<53 days till summer break

SECOND lultrolled.
and to your point of you getting a mac, i didn't say for you not to get it, all i said was it sucks IMO if you know how to use context clues to it, funny how you DONT CARE, if you DONT CARE then dont go all /ragequit and lulwindows. Stop being so frooty about it and suck it up, ITS the internet, dont take anything seriously.
Well that was fun, and cool topgear season 12 & 13 finished downloaded.

Do they also have valuable insight into the world of macadamia nuts, too?
I have to know!

Re: Summertime countdown
yes. I admit, you did call it. about a day early, too.
pancakes... I just ate the perfect scrambled egg (IMO).
It's just like the Hilton and Hyatt versions of scrambled egg.
Take that IHOP (I'll still ravenously devour the pancakes like it's a s'more in winter.
