Clans (any thoughts??)

As mentioned in my previous thread, making games (which ironically enough evolved into clans lol) both Treamcaster and I had thought of a few rules involving clans if they are made

First of all, I want to express that this is only a thought and they are not mandatory, it would be greatly appreciated if anyone would like to leave suggestions or whether or not you like it

Thoughts
First of all these would be probably be PC DC and GC exclusively unless it catches on by other people
These clans would most likely be based on one ship (given the group of people it would probably be on Cephei)
Clans would have a symbol in their symbol chat exclusive to their clan

Clan Wars and other things are set up however the groups decide or whatever, that is for the clans to decide lol

Please post what you think, maybe it would be cool, maybe it wouldnt, also any amendments to the thoughts will be greatly recieved and deliberated

Like.. how? BA? Lol c\'mon.. The whole clan thing is really made for fps games or the more hardcore mmorpg\'s.

What can you do with pso on that basis? In terms of duking it out, BA is all you can do; there\'s not much in that category IMO to classify it as kw\'s.

Clans are nice for groupies and get togethers however. So I suppose the idea of it, is ok. This was pretty much the original idea when clans were new, back in the day, but IDK if we really have enough people to have this whole rivalry big clan thing that other games have.

If you\'re doing this just to have a fun team for everyone, I can see where you\'re going with this then. I personally see no reason unless it is for something big, since hanging out doesn\'t really require a whole team anyways

This has been suggested in the past a few times by some buddies I know, I\'m not quite sure how this will work out, I\'m not a big fan of clans. It starts out nice, but the responsibility and ranks, all that wonky stuff as it gets more complex and you advance yourself over time... too much drama for me for a video game.

If you two really wanna do this then have fun. I doubt I will get involved though to be honest, I\'m not a huge fan of clans as I said.

The success of clans greatly depends on how they are structured. Clans that are uptight and have ranks and leaders and require that members put something in their characters' names generally are viewed with disdain by everyone else as kind of weird and eccentric and/or anal and annoying. Clans function much better when they are loosely tied, have no specific leader, and don't require that character names be altered. Clan members can be identified through various chat shortcuts as well as Symbol Chats, and generally the purpose of such clans is just so like-minded people know each other, have a specific spot to play, and have a specific password so that members can join each other's teams.

...This forum as well as the SCHTServ forum rather nullifies the point of clans, and there aren't enough people left to really form any of significant size.

Well that's pretty much my point. The original idea for clans is nice, but I don't like when it gets so serious.. it's just a game.

If you guys wanna do this so you can hang out better, be my guest.

I honestly don't believe it's that necessary, so I'll keep things the way they are for myself.

it was just a thought anyway, the way it would be structured would be simple and no real leader would be there, I do understand the qualms you both have with the idea of clans and it probably wont happen anyway, my thought was that if people saw the clans and saw a potential compeititive aspect to PSO perhaps more people would join, you know give the game some kind of newness without altering the principles of the game in which both veterans and newbies alike have come to adore in PSO.

Perhaps if something new was added to PSO like some kind of extra mode or something unofficial, PSO would appeal to more people than just the ones it has already gathered, the idea of clans was an idea tailored to this idea

There aren't many players around, and so this may not be that worthy...

Hey, this sounds pretty cool. However... it might be better if we lay off it for a little...
