You would have to save your character files to a floppy disk, a USB memory key, or some other media format unless you want to FTP the data.

C:\Program Files\SEGA\PhantasyStarOnline\backup

PSO_COM, FLS, GUD, SYD, & SYS are the files you want.

Stop double posting.

Did you use the same serials on the new PC?

You would have to copy the registry settings from PC A to PC B in that case using the registry editor. I think it's HKCU\Software\Sonicteam\PhantasyStarOnline\ but I'm not sure about that.

Don't mess with the registry unless you know what you're doing. You can totally hose your PC if you do something wrong. Razz

Hmm...I'm worried about my characters now, I've sealed their fate with a serial...is there a way to "undo" a serial? I smell another character restart...

You can use caitsith's serial change program which I believe I have in the PC downloads section of my site. Make sure you read the instructions, as you can fuck up your characters if you do things wrong. Why would you want to change serials, anyway? (Unless you were dumb and used a registry patch/Guild Card "fixer" which I specifically told you not to do in the README...)

I looked at it, but I don't know if it will solve my problem (I don't have the problem I'm thinking of, at least not yet...)I want to be able to transfer my characters from PC X to PC Y, do I have to be connected to the internet to register serials is what I want to confirm, which I believe I quoted something of the sort, but since I'm an idiot,I'm not sure. Like I said, I want to be able to transfer my characters from PC X to PC Y, but without the use of connecting to the internet to register serials. I don't want to have to rely on the internets 100% of the time.

My 2nd reason for my serial crisis is if I happen to lose it (I have it copied and pasted as a notepad file all over the place, I highly doubt I'd lose it, and I can go into the option menu to see it there if I lose it) and I have no way of playing my characters again because I don't know my serial, what the hell would I do?

Not saying that I would do it, but is it possible to revert the serial back to normal, or change it so that I don't have to register my characters after a transfer? (I would do this if it was possible for emergency situations)

Why is it so hard to write your serials on a piece of paper and keep it somewhere? >_>

I want to be able to transfer my characters from PC X to PC Y, do I have to be connected to the internet to register serials is what I want to confirm, which I believe I quoted something of the sort, but since I'm an idiot,I'm not sure.
To do that, just try to start the game in online mode from the autorun and it'll ask you to input your serials. Do so and then it will connect to the patch server and save the information in the registry. You only have to do this once.

I want to be able to transfer my characters from PC X to PC Y, but without the use of connecting to the internet to register serials. I don't want to have to rely on the internets 100% of the time.
You have to have Internet access once to be able to register. Otherwise you have to copy the registry keys directly from PC A to PC B in a .reg file and apply the patch to your new PC.

You would start over. If you lose your serial and uninstall the game, you're fucked. There are no tools to recover the serial from a savefile.

Not saying that I would do it, but is it possible to revert the serial back to normal, or change it so that I don't have to register my characters after a transfer? (I would do this if it was possible for emergency situations)
By "normal" you mean having no serial? No. You can only go from having one serial to another once you register.

And 1 last thing, if I am unregistered, I can transfer characters to other computers without any registration/damaged character data crap and/or not have to do anything to be able to use the character data after a transfer?

Yes, but if you're unregistered you can't start the game without a loader, you won't hear lobby music, your character won't have a static GC#, and you can't save any Guild Cards that people send you.

Go to the Start menu, click "Run" and type "regedit" without the quotes and press Enter.
