To activate the pillars you must play offline, beat Forest, Cave, and Mine, then talk to Tyrell. This will cause all the areas to reset and you can then go back through and activate the pillars to reach Ruins. You do not need to complete Forest or Cave (unless you want to) the second time through, just get to the second area and activate the pillar and pipe out. Once you beat Vol Opt the second time, the door to Ruins will be open.

Need help with my PSO PC... Empty My story

Post  stasher Fri May 09, 2008 9:18 pm

When I first started playing PSO, I didn't know that I was supposed to talk to the principal after each time I beat an area. So, one day I beat caves and saved the game without speaking to him. I start up the game the next day and find out that I couldn't get to mines because it didn't save the fact that I beat the caves all because I didn't speak to the principal. Needless to say, I never made that mistake again. *coughbecausecavessuckcough*

In some ways, I kind of like the GC system better, though it makes less sense story-wise.

On GC, you can activate the pillars when you first walk through the area. You do not have to beat Vol Opt, talk to the Principal, and then redo the areas. While it's certainly more convenient, it does kind of break the "story".

You're supposed to be looking at the pillars, reading Rico's messages, and going ??? because it's JUST ALL SO MYSTERIOUS!

Then when you reach the door in the Ruins Rico ties it together that the pillars are the key to opening the door, so you can then go back and activate them. How could you activate them the first time through when you don't know what they are? Razz

Yeah, that is pretty stupid. I guess SEGA or Sonic Team got too many complaints and they let everyone take the "easy" route.

It's even worse on BB. Originally, to unlock the areas you have to play these side quests which take you through all the areas. People thought this was really irritating, so Sega updated it so that all the areas are unlocked by default. You don't have to do anything. xD (People also complained that Ep4 was too hard, so Sega made it easier...)

Of course, the pillar thing is really annoying. I don't know, maybe you should only have to go through twice on Normal mode, and then once you know how it works, you can go through only once in Hard, Vhard, and Ult. Razz
