Hey all! I been playing recetly quite a lot PSO DC online, since I got my BBA last month and I am currently facing a strange issue...

Firstly, like Aleron told me, I used my JP bba broswer to configure. Entered Schtserv IP on the 1st DNS setting, and got the server runing pretty cool with no need of CB codes.

Now, after a while, I can't seem to connect to the server without the CB codes! I have cheked the DNS setting a lot, everything remains the same.
Another strange thing I've noticed is, when I run the codes in orther to be able to play online, it takes some seconds to appear the ships screen, which didn't happen before.

I would like to know what's goin on.
Thanks

Like has been said before, DC is picky about its network configuration. It's very quick to give up on connecting if there's timeouts, and if the DNS server you use is too far away this can happen. You've checked to make sure you're using the current IP of gsproduc.ath.cx as your DNS server? The best method is to run your own DNS server since it will never go down and it will always be less than 10 hops away from your DC. Wink

Yeah, I am using that IP on the DNS adress.
Hmm, that's a good ideia, however I need some hints onn how to do that. I mean, I've already tried to put my IP on the DNS setting and it didn't work either...
I also wanted to run my pvship with schthacks public release software, but the thing is... I need someone to test if he/she can join in. I'll put online now a ship on PT/shiplist, named "Dreamcast". Try to log in and tell me if you could enter please.

Since Schthack left it seems that he won't host his DNS server program anymore, so I'll have to put it on my site so people can get it. Neutral

What you mean by that? The pvship server is still working. So what do I have to do, if I don't want to run PSO with GB?

You need a DNS server, not a PSO server.

So I run Jp passport and put in the DNS space, my DNS server?
Where do I put Schtserv IP then?

OK I've uploaded Schthack's DNS to my site. Get it in the downloads section for PSO DC. Extract the files and make sure the IPs for everything except auth01.dricas.com are set to the current IP of gsproduc.ath.cx in config.txt. Just run the exe. In your DC settings, change DNS 1 to the LAN IP of the PC on which the server is running.

Thanks for uploading dude.
1-Well, I ran the tool, changed the IP adresses to the actual Schtserv IP.
2-Then, I put the Schtserv IP, like always, on the 1st DNS space on the DC JP passport browser.
3-After this, I tried with V2 to see if it was working, and yeah, no more CB.
4-!However!, since now I am playing more V1 than V2, I tried V1, but with no luck. The error message quickly shows up.No
5-Today I tried again V2 without using the tool you've uploaded, and it worked still, which is strange.. but good. bounce

Any suggestion, to make V1 workin?
Thanks

Why are you doing this? You should be setting DNS 1 to your LAN IP. To make Ver.1 work with the BBA you need to configure your settings with USv2 or JPv2 in the "Website" option on the title screen AFAIK.

You don't use his IP.

This is the whole point of running your own DNS.

The only reason you set Schthack's IP as your DNS 1 is because he runs a "fake" DNS. When you connect to PSO, it asks for pso.games.st01-isao.net or whatever the name of the Sega server is, and it also asks for auth01.dricas.com if you're using USv2, JPv1, or JPv2. The purpose of a DNS is to tell the application running (in this case, PSO, but computers using the Internet do the exact same thing) what the IP address of that domain name is.

In our case, the IP address of the PSO game server is dead; Sega closed their servers. In addition, the IP of the HL server is also different from the actual IP returned by a normal DNS. Thus, the only way for your DC to get the correct IP is for it to use a DNS that lies and tells it that the domain name is a certain IP when it is actually not that IP. This is what Schthack's IP will do. If you request any PSO related server from him, he tells you that the IP is that of gsproduc.ath.cx. If you request the HL server, he redirects you to the new one Sega set up when JPDC went free to play.

Running your own DNS does the exact same thing. The only difference is you won't have to reach out to the Internet to connect to it because it's running on your LAN. The benefit of this is that you won't get timeouts which are what frequently make PSO DC disconnect. If you have too many hops or timeouts, you can't connect.

</longass explanation>

Hey Aleron, thanks for the big and great explanation!
About entering my DNS into the blank space using JPpassport, when I run the game, I get the error message as always.
I'll PM ya with my IP and DNS configs.

Havn't uploaded to any picture server, because my IP seems to be static, since I got a wireless router and stuff, and I don't wanna make it public.

I've uploaded to my website account server.
Please check your PSO Palace PM Indbox, as I've sent you the direct link to the picture =)

You've set your DNS 1 as 192.168.1.64 in both the web browser and in PSO?

You're connecting through a router, yes? The PC and the DC are both hooked up through the router? You've set your DC to have a static IP, yes? Such as 192.168.1.63 or whatever?

In order for this to work, you can't be using DHCP. Your PC's IP must stay the same.

(However, when I go online with my DC, I don't need to have my PC turned on..)

My IP never changes.

Hope that helps =)

Then I suggest you try configuring this way:

On the DC, use static IP and set your IP to 192.168.1.65, subnet mask to 255.255.255.0, gateway to your router's IP, and DNS 1 as 192.168.1.64.

On your PC, open config.txt in the DNS and make sure you change all the IPs to the current IP of gsproduc.ath.cx as indicated on the home page, except for the IP for auth01.dricas.com. Never change that one. Resave the file, then run the DNS. Now try to connect with PSO and see what happens...

Yes. Your PC's IP is 192.168.1.64, so your DC can't be the same IP. If you have other PCs in the house then you can't use their IPs either. DNS 1 for your DC should be the IP of the PC running the DNS, which is I presume the PC whose IP you gave.

Btw, just got my JP copy of PSO v1, and can't connect online, even with the CB!!
Here's what shows up: "The line was disconnected due to network error(s). Please try connecting again later."

Wtf, it should have worked at least with CB I suppose..
