PSO GDEmu - Extended possibilities? Empty PSO GDEmu - Extended possibilities?

PSO loads blazing fast using GDEmu. Now we can easily mod the game without worrying about the "burning bug" issues, I suppose.

What features would you guys like to see in a custom version of v2 for the sega dreamcast?

It doesn't really matter, because he isn't making enough units for us to buy our own, and they are too expensive, anyway. Sad I take it you've played PSOv2 without FSODing online or in the offline quests?

DK's doing another run and may be more who knows. There's also MNEMO's board... more people are working on devices like these... also the IDE solutions... don't lose hope just yet, this is just the beginning!

I played Halloweens Horror quest today flawlessly. I can try offline quest and then I'll report.

I still want this to happen, however I need help. I also wanted to add the v1 Particles effect to regular pal v2.

You would be able to play that quest on a CD-R, too. You need to load player data when you're not on Pioneer 2, which requires you to either play offline quests with NPCs, The Tinkerbell's Dog 2, Challenge mode, or just have random people join and exit your team over and over. A CD-R would FSOD from all of those activities eventually. I assume you're using a GD-ROM ISO dump + GDI file to play.

Ok, I am going to try EP disc offline quests now to see what happens.

edit: Playing The Lost Bride right now, no trouble so far.

So... I finally got a GDEMU, and I can confirm that PSO works perfectly as long as you use a GDI. If you boot a CDI with GDEMU, then you'll FSOD just as you would with a CD-R. Ver.2 apparently doesn't care about loading speeds at all: it has anti-MIL-CD protection. You can load as fast as you want, as long as PSO thinks it's running on a GD-ROM. Wink

Have you tested v1 with gdemu yet?
I can't hear lobby bgm with my PAL version... I wonder if this is some problem I'm having or if it happens with everyone?

Did you try reconnecting? I got no BGM on ship select the first time I connected on Ver.2 with my new DC, but I heard it in the lobby and when I reconnected. I have to swap my GDEMU DC back into service now that I'm done testing my CD-R.

I am referring exclusively to V1. V2 works fine.

Both my USv1 GDI and CDI have lobby music, so perhaps there's something wrong with your EUv1 dump. Are you using the latest GDEMU firmware?

Yes. I don't think theres a problem with the gdi... In any case, I'll check UsV1 to see if the problem perssists. If it doesn't, then I'll ask you to try PalV1.

Compare your checksums to the correct values from TOSEC:

Code:
rom ( name "Phantasy Star Online v2.011 (2001)(Sega)(PAL)(M5)[!][req. serial].gdi" size 89 crc d503d605 md5 17cb44535d29759b5983a5fc2dfd955b sha1 9fd4021d2a5bb7c4e8de53ccd47443bbc40d99cc )
   rom ( name track01.bin size 25770864 crc 38bb330e md5 29153114ed66b1da61b2123bb16e059f sha1 40602e34a17fba0bad7717da14f56c8abf830d20 )
   rom ( name track02.raw size 13994400 crc 15e73429 md5 d1838bcbca4a24b39deddeae2a9d371a sha1 b643df4def042b6c23f90f54c690ac7df431233f )
   rom ( name track03.bin size 1185760800 crc e63258ca md5 18454ff92b650846cb053f4b6a460a46 sha1 ead77480b933d6d8913c9dc915090c2ae0fab359 )

If your track03.bin doesn't match, then you have a bad dump (unless you dumped in 2048 instead of 2352 mode, in which case your dump will be much smaller and thus not match).

Although I own the original copy of the game, I am using a TOSEC dump.

You lazy man. You have a BBA but don't dump your own games. I guess it goes well with me being too lazy to region patch my EUv1 GDI to boot in GDEMU. Razz
