Transfer items between characters?

Just got back into playing PSO PC, and one thing I remember from playing back then was the annoyance of transfering items, which required a friend to hold a game open. With the populace really low right now, is there a way to transfer items without using two devices? I realize I can run multiple windows of PSO, input is universal, meaning when I exit another game, it exits the other because all the button pushes I do are registered in both.

Unfortunately, at the moment there's no way to transfer items between characters without leaving a game open to transfer them with. This is (once again, unfortunately) unlikely to change in the near-term.

The easiest way is to install PSO on two computers or use PSO PC and PSO DC at the same time. If you can't do that, you sadly do need a friend to transfer items.

Wouldn't you also need two different guild cards? I tried transferring once by this method with one guild card and I couldn't access my second character on the same guild card online, hence why I had two guild cards (gave the other to le brother) , although I could be wrong as I have a hazy memory.

Yes, you would need two guild cards, which the website for Sylverant will let you do just fine (with just one account).

Oh, I think this is the lamest point of the game, at least one of them. It would be nice to just have a simple tool to open up the character files and just swap items between them, but I guess the interest just isn't there to try to do that. Thanks anyways, I think I'll try using VirtualBox/VirtualPC and see if I can do it that way. I have another laptop I could use, but sometimes I'd probably want to be able to swap items on the spot.

Using VirtualBox with a WinXP VM should work just fine, as I've used that to test things in the past.
