People were getting confused between the EP and the Resist Mod, and since Ludicrous mode already has drastically lowered resistances to allow Forces to do good damage, I deprecated the Resist Mod to end the confusion.

Equipping these forums with a State/Maintenance would have been better man...

Makes sense, though admittedly, for those who don't use the EP it would probably be nice to have a download link for it somewhere. I could probably upload the mod if I can find it, though you may have to wait till tomorrow till I can accurately search for the file. I've run into a few times where I've had to ask Wing to send it to me xD

That being said, I'll post tomorrow in this topic if I can find it or not, the resist mod makes ultimate more enjoyable for forces without the EP and very very annoying to play without. Anyway I'll keep an eye out for it on the comp. Very Happy

I still have all three versions (lolunreleasedrejectedbetaversion), so I could put it up again. The problem is that people seem to get confused and think that Ludicrous mode needs the Resist Mod in order for Forces to be able to succeed, which isn't the case. Ludicrous mode already has low resistances (lower than those in the Resist Mod, actually) built in, and I never found a way to set people straight on what to patch where. Laughing

Why not just say exactly that on the download page? If people are stupid enough to try to use both, then they sorta deserve it after that warning. Rolling Eyes

Yeah, that would be fantastic if you could put those up, maybe with like a giant disclaimer, "WARNING ONLY FOR NON-EP USERS. THOSE WHO HAVE IT DON'T NEED THIS!!!!!!!!!

Or you know, something to that effect Very Happy

You act as though it would be some sort of punishment, and the problem is that it would be the exact opposite. One of my desires with the EP was to try to make people at least work a little harder for the easier drops by having to deal with stronger enemies. If people apply the Resist Mod on top of the EP, whether deliberately or through ignorance, they will have a much easier time than the people who use the patches properly. While it's true that I can't stop people from misusing the patches no matter what I do, I also don't want to directly facilitate it, either. The reason I pulled the patch in the first place was because there were so many questions that it was clearly a problem.

Ah, I thought it broke something, and that's why you didn't want to have both up... Hrm. Well, I have no ideas.

The EP makes a big difference for forces. At first, I thought the resist mod is already in there. But Ives has since said otherwise. Try it. I think your force will like it.

Re: resist mod thing?

Post  Aleron Ives on Sat Apr 09, 2011 9:58 pm

To be clear, the resistances in Ludicrous mode are lower than those with the Resist Mod for Ultimate mode. You will do more damage in Ludicrous mode than you would with the Resist Mod for Ultimate mode. The difference is that the enemies in Ludicrous mode also have more HP than the enemies in Ultimate mode, so even though your Techniques can do 400 damage, it will still take quite a few Techniques to fell the enemies.

That's why it seems like Ludicrous mode has the Resist Mod, because either way, you do a lot more damage than you would with Sega's resistances in Ultimate mode. Sega's Bartles have 55 EFR, so Rafoie will do a maximum of 212 damage (assuming you're a FOnewearl with maxed MST and level 30 Rafoie). With the Resist Mod, Bartles have ~25 EFR, so you can do around 350 damage instead. With Ludicrous mode, Bartles have 0 EFR, so you can do 472 damage, which is the same as Very Hard mode. The difference is that in Ludicrous mode, Bartles also have twice as much HP as in Ultimate mode, so you can't just wipe the floor with Techniques. The net result is that Forces get to contribute a lot more damage to the team without being able to blow away all the enemies instantly like they can in Very Hard mode, which is what I was trying to accomplish. Hopefully that clarifies the difference. Wink
