Disconnection and loss of equipped weapon and meseta

Was playing endless nightmare quest #4 on ultimate as usagiiii with serena, when we both got disconnected simultaneously. Usagiiii lost her equipped weapon and all of her money! That's NEVER happened before. Serena was on PSODC and Usagi on PSOPC. Was there any server event that may have caused this?

Are you sure it was a disconnect and not a crash or FSOD? Unless you got killed, dropped your weapon and Meseta, and then got disconnected before you could pick it up again, that would normally not happen. If you crashed though, then it would. PSO PC saves your inventory every time you alter it by using or dropping an item, but it does not save your inventory when you pick something up. As a result, PSO saves when you die and drop your weapon (so now the save file on your HDD no longer contains that weapon or your Meseta, because they are on the floor), and when you get revived and pick those things up, PSO doesn't save again. If you then crash, your save file didn't get updated, so you will have lost your weapon and your Meseta. The way to prevent this is to either use the trainer to disable your weapon from dropping (but this won't save your Meseta), or to use an item every time you get killed and revived to force PSO to update your save file. Whatever the problem was, it's somehow due to PSO's save system, and it's not the fault of the server. The server has no control over your inventory, so it can't be to blame.

Yeah, I must've got killed just before disconnexion (or crashed!). Funny that we both got disconnected at the same time though. Usually, it's only one of us, but not both. Just wondering, too how things went with ryuu. Met up with Cathy' later, but had no time to play. Maybe next time... apologies to Cathy'
