How to put them all on a DVD-R

Post  Baron_Von_Bullsh-t on Thu Feb 10, 2011 7:23 pm

Ok, so I got this dilemma. I have the ISO's and all the nifty packs like the cuss patch, sparkle patch, offline quest patch, music patch, graphics patch, offline map patch, enhancement pack and a windowed and full screen.exe (just in case I wanna switch later down the road).

Now, when I try to put these onto a DVD-R it tells me it can't do it. It says something along the lines of "[file name] has extra information that may be corrupted or lost while being transferred on to the disk."

So does that mean I can't put them all on a DVD-R? It's definitely not a space issue since the entire folder is only 1.56Gigs and the DVD is 4Gigs...

Anyone have any ideas? I would really like to accomplish this so I don't have to re-download them later if I get my own computer or something happens to this one.

It would help if you said what file was giving the error. Razz You could try putting that file into an archive and see if that helps.

They all are, that's the problem..

Also by archive do you mean like a .rar file? if that's the case they all are.

Maybe it doesn't want to burn such a large file and wants you to split the archive up.

Usually you can ignore that error. I think it just might have to do with installed directories and stuff like that.

I would go ahead and burn it, and try to install it all on another computer to make sure there are no problems.

Punch it in the face! Cool

Could you burn 1 of the isos to 1 of the cd's? Could require more cds but at least you would have them if it worked correctly. I just keep my isos on a flash drive I have around, as well as backups, music files, all of that stuff. A 2GB one is only about 10 bucks now at the right store. I'd say if the dvd burning doesn't work out to go with that.

If you burn each ISO image to its own CD, you will have your own installation CDs and then you won't need to use a virtual drive anymore to mount them, which you will still have to do if you burn everything to a single DVD. You should be able to fit everything else on a third CD.

I was trying to avoid the CDs for more dreamcast games, but I guess I'll have to do that. Ah well. As long as I can have the thing archived for later use.

CDs are cheap, though.
And, it's alot less work to install pso through CDs--no mucking around with vcdcontroltool, daemon tools, etc...

I just wanted to use for archiving purposes. not put the cd in and expect to play it. anyways It all worked out in the end. Still unsure about all the patches I got for it though but I tested some of the the important ones like the autorun.exe and stuff and they worked fine on my bros comp.
