Um... help? Empty Um... help?

Post  Innokuous Tue Jun 08, 2010 4:18 pm

I'm so very new to PSO for the PC. I can't figure anything out. Call me a noob, you're right. BUT.
I'm asking for some help here. One: How do you move around with the keyboard, if you can?
Two: How the heck do you type in a message? A personalized one, not an automated fill-in?
Three: Can you change the configuration, say I want to move with WASD, how do I set it?
And that's about it. Please help me Sad

1st one: use the number pad to mover around 8 is up, 2 is down, 4 is left, 6 is right

2nd one: I assume since you can't type that you are using vista/win-7, in which case under the downloads section of psopalace.schtserv.com there is a patch to fix it, there is also a guide on schtserv.com under the PC section, but this patch seems to work well from what I hear so I'd try that first Wink (this is assuming you are using either of the above os' lol)

3rd one: yes there is, I dont remember exactly where it is but search under options I believe or settings and there is a place to configure the keyboard buttons, though in all honesty I would recommend playing with a controller as playing with a kb, as you will likely hear from other people who post here, can be rather tedious but thats up to you Very Happy

On an unrelated note, welcome to psopalace and v2! Very Happy

Okay, well, two things now...
I have a laptop, so I'd have to use the fn key while pressing other keys on the main board. So, that's out...
I don't have a controller, nor do I know where to get one that would be compatible with this old piece of crap anyways. I guess I'm stuck to moving with my mouse. Crying or Very sad
Otherwise, thank you for the input input input input. And thanks for the welcome, too. Very Happy

Hey at least you have a computer xD, there are many who wish they did :/

I also have a laptop and dont have a problem, perhaps its they way mine is set vs yours, as I have a number pad next to my kb, and if you're looking for a controller, just get a wired xbox 360 one, which connects to both pc and xbox with a USB input, thats what I use works pretty well too, but yeah up to you

I play with a 9.99 Logitech USB controller... since you can set up gamepad controls in the game, what controller you use really depends on whats comfortable for you, and as far as getting controllers to work in windows on laptops, well, most older/generic controllers dont even really need drivers, they're pretty plug and play

If you get a controller, better off getting either a 360 or PS3 controller.

Alright, I found an old XBox controller, my friend gave this to me a while back, I recently found out it no longer works on my 360... I've tried to hook it up on this old thing. What comes up is that it can't identify that it's a controller. Anything I can do? Neutral

But, still, how does one remap the keys? I've seen something like that in the in-gain menu, but I can't seem to map them.

You can't. PSO doesn't require you to press space to talk (hallelujah) like most online games, so Sega mapped movement to keys that won't type anything when pressed. Razz The only way to get WASD movement is to use deathrabbit's trainer for it and load it every time you start the game. Controllers FTW.

Mmkay, Deathrabbit's trainer would do the trick, could you set a download link for me please? Very Happy
Oh, would this happen to set me to have to use the space bar before typing a message? Neutral

Yes, it forces you to press space AFAIK. I've never used it.
