Anyone still play anymore?

Post  MuCast on Tue Jun 16, 2009 7:54 pm

I know this has been repeated by many people saying that PC is dead, but in all seriousness, where did all the players go? Since about 2 weeks ago, there has been seriously no one on when I play, with the exception of the one random BR that is always there for some reason, anyone still play anymore? Sad

When have you been signing on? I haven't seen you in the afternoons lately. Titanium and Caboose have gone missing this week as well.

The Answer

Post  MuCast on Wed Jun 17, 2009 2:25 pm

I usually sign on rather spontaneously but I tend to sign on around 8:00 PM Eastern Time and I tend to stay on for awhile, but Ive been signing on less mostly because theres been like no one to game with online, before there was a steady stream of players so at least some new player would be there to help out but theres been no one on recently clown

Darn...

Post  Flash T.H. on Wed Jul 15, 2009 9:54 pm

XD I probably will never be able to play online untill I reach college.
But that's a maybe, I can probably get a connection to the game if I can connect my PC to the laptop's internet with a network card. But I don't have one yet, I have 96 bucks worth of spending and 40+ of it is going into The Conduit. (The BEST wii 1st person shooter out there, and I don't have anything except a Wii and DS, plus computer)

Well, a USB I have serves as an access point or a Wi-Fi network, but I don't think you can connect directly with it.

Re: Anyone still play anymore?

Post  furrypaws on Sun Jul 19, 2009 10:32 am

I lied when I said I was getting my laptop in August. I couldn't wait and just got it yesterday. I could even be on PSOPC in a couple of days, but it depends. I still need to decide how much hard drive space to partition to Mac and how much to Windows. It's a 250 GB hard drive, so I'm thinking maybe 100 GB to Mac and 140 GB to Windows, assuming 10 GB is taken up by the systems. Mac's going to be the World of Warcraft/Media/Hexedit/Generic browsing side, and Windows is for everything else.

Go impulse!

i see

Post  MuCast on Sun Jul 19, 2009 4:05 pm

@ Flash: if a wireless card is connected to your usb port as you say (or at least what im understanding) provided you have a router, you should be able to connect with no problem at all, barring no password protection on the aforementioned router unless you know the code for that scenario. Simply put, if you can go on the internet using this usb adapter, you should be able to go on pso. Again this is if im understanding correctly Very Happy

@Furrypaws: cool, hope to see ya online sometime, I have a vhard force im raising up painfully slow so if you see her or any of my characters online feel free to ask for a game Very Happy

Unfortuanately...

Post  Flash T.H. on Sun Jul 19, 2009 5:10 pm

I don't have a wireless router. The usb adapter serves as either a way to USE a wireless router or make a virtual Wi-Fi access point, which requires an already active internet connection.
IF it were possible to connect a Verizon Aircard- the one where you can use the internet on a plane- then it might work. HOWEVER, I haven't tested that theory and honestly, if I try to connect a Wi-Fi compatable device to it normally, it's not detected.
If theres any... oh, $50 or less wireless routers, that'd be great, but how would I get internet access without a provider? (Unless Wi-Fi networks don't require a internet provider, like Bellsouth)

Well thats....confusing

Post  MuCast on Sun Jul 19, 2009 5:20 pm

thats confusing, you must have an internet connection since you are able to get on the internet, now wifi means wireless access through a wireless router, which you mentioned you didnt have. I'm then going to assume that you have your internet access computer connected via ethernet into the back of this computer in order to access the web. So you already have internet, the step required to get online would then be to either get a router so you can use your USB adapter to connect to the router, or run an ethernet cable to your computer, in most cases, laptops have wireless cards to connect to the internet, desktops usually require the purchase of an adapter, but one thing im curious about is this, is the adapter you are referring to the aircard you mentioned? or is it something different, because if so, im not sure if you could connect properly to a wireless network anyway using just that card Mad

It's more like this...

Post  Flash T.H. on Sun Jul 19, 2009 5:58 pm

Offline Comp I play PSO on+USB Wi-fi Adapter+Verizon Aircard=No connection
Offline Comp I play PSO on+USB Wi-fi Adapter+Wirelss Router (that I don't have)= POSSIBLE connection
Offline Comp I play PSO on+Ethernet Cable=Definite Connection, but there is no phone line anywhere to use as a provider
It looks like I'm stuck unless I get a Router, but my dad probably won't allow it.
