I have been lurking around the schtserv forums for a few weeks now so some of you might already know me.

Just saying hello really and I am looking forward to playing online with all of ya.

Oh yeah. Ives, spot on job on the c-mode guide. Just need to round up some players and get some practice in now!

I'm new to this board, too. So I'll just use this thread to introduce myself.

I recently got my Dreamcast back online as you can read on the schthack forums where I'm registered as "elk_elch". After reading through some half-recent topics I thought that this would be a good place to look for some kind of community as people here seem to be reasonable.

Originally I come from the very southeast of Germany but after my military service I moved to the inner side of the country to live with my girlfriend and study Biomedical Science.

I've been playing PSO since the age of 13 which has been 8 years ago by now.
When the time came that SEGA's servers where flooded with malicious hackers I became one of those militant legit players. I'm member of an old german PSO clan whose members are scattered all over the gaming landscape today now that any official servers have closed their gates.
Some time ago I was an active member of onlineconsoles, too. I lost interest in that site when I gave my dreamcasts a rest. I don't really feel like I'll return there... exspecially not for PSO.
I like my old characters and I do think that they're indeed legit.

It seems to me that schtserv is a decent and uncomplicated place to play legit on. This is because I changed my mind about that old legit/illegit thing. I still do not want to play with people who cheat themselves or profit from the cheating of others. But I do understand now that it's not my problem as long as they're willing to leave me alone in-game. People should do what they want and that is what this server wants to provide as far as I know.

I'd like to change GuildCards with some of you if you're interested in a legit game.
My characters range from level 10 to 157 and I'm willing to play on any level I can offer as long as you don't want me to do several TTF runs or play with people who love to one-hit-kill things with their overpowered junk which too often happens with rare-addicted legit players.

Welcome aboard. Also.. Year of the Cat? What the hell Ives? Cat wasn't in the zodiac lol. China never included it =x. There's an old folktale. And It might be a few days, but technically I'm year of the Ram... >_>

Oh well. Now where can I find one of those Blame Ives Signs... lol :D

Yes, I know Chinese New Year starts around February but still... I base it off of our calendars =P

Year of the Cat though... if you ARE basing it off of the Chinese New Year (which explains why I'm considered horse on here), what the hell? lol. No year of cat in their zodiac =x Stop watching Fruits Basket XD

Don't blame me for Forumotion's understanding of the zodiac. I merely clicked the "enable zodiac crap" button or something like that. Rolling Eyes

Welcome to you, Al. SCHTServ supports players of all kinds except those who would use cheats to maliciously harm others (PK, NOL, etc.). This particular forum is dedicated to those who play Ver.1 and 2 since our community has taken severe hits over the years. Personally I've made it my goal to try to improve the game, and you can see some of the projects I've done/am doing in the development section.

Just to clarify one thing:

Neither that it's important nor that I'm proud of it,

I am born in the year of the rabbit.

I read about that resistence mod and I do think that it's interesting.
The only thing that bothers me is that FSOD bug thing. Is it really that bad?
For now I'll stick with my genuine copy anyway but I'm going to give it a try some day.

Those other ideas listed in the mentioned forums sound quite good, too.
Even though I think that changing the game in general -and droprates exspecially- is quite a delicate thing, I suppose that it can be done in a reasonable way.
Speaking of droprates: Would it be possible to enable rare drops during quests?

In addition I have two questions about "legit mode":
-Does it enable original level limits as I read that it's not possible to set them manually? I don't really want to state that they were great but then I reluctantly would want to have a lv3 player in an ultimate game.
-Is it any useful? Do people in general respect that information?

The level limits are set to default: normal 1 and up, hard 20 and up, vhard 40 and up, ultimate 80 and up.

Putting up /legit just lets everyone know in the lobby that you have the game set to a legitimate mode; simply tells them that you want only legit people in your game and hacking/cheating is not allowed.

Not everyone respects this, nor is aware of this. Lots of them say: "No comprendes." >_>

Anyways, if you really want to keep idiots out of your games, I suggest locking it and only letting in people you know. That's what I do. If you want to get to know good people, welcome to the forum lol. If you see me online, feel free to hit me up on a game via PM. Not bothered at all.

All CD-R copies of PSO can FSOD, the question is how often. xD In general, my copy seems to be OK as long as you either have people join your team while you're on Pioneer 2 or join other people's teams.

No. As such, the rates for freeplay need to be that much easier. xD

Level limits are always in place by default. You have to disable them with either /hack or /setlvl. As for its usefulness, it varies on the IQ of the people in the lobby. xD
